Tappu School Development Project
The Tappu School is located in the Southeast corner of Nepal on the Indian border, in the lowlands. It is near the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve and primarily consists of rice plantations surrounding a Delta and jungle.
They are a 20-hour bus journey from Kathmandu and the nearest internet or ATM is 3-hours away. In July, we started the construction of Phase 1 of a primary school, which consists of a pavilion with a concrete floor.
We gave the Village Development Committee a small grant to implement the beginning stages of the project. In late Spring, we will return to complete Phase 2 of the school - which includes constructing the exterior and interior walls, building desks and chairs for the students, buying a chalkboard and educational materials, supplying teacher salaries, and finally, to help organize a better educational curriculum for the school. All of this will cost money.
Construction on Phase II began in June 2012 and is nearly finished!! We are in constant communication with the Village Development Committee (VDC) to get that exact dollar amount. We are working on a budget as of current, and will have that shortly. In the meantime, please donate to this cause!!! Together with your donation, the money we collect from numerous fundraising events we have planned, and from corporate sponsors, we are positive that this money will be raised by the late Spring.
